ABOUT THE KITCHEN.

Plain-English pickleball — the rules, the gear, the players, and the tools to get you on court and playing better, without the jargon.

What The Kitchen is

The Kitchen is an independent pickleball content site. We publish clear, genuinely useful guides on the rules and strategy of pickleball, honest gear advice, profiles of the top professional players, and free interactive tools like our Paddle Finder, Court Finder, and Shoe Finder. The name is a nod to the sport’s most talked-about feature — the non-volley zone every player calls “the kitchen.”

We started The Kitchen because most pickleball information online is either buried in dense rulebooks or scattered across forum threads. Our goal is to be the place a new player can land, get a straight answer, and leave knowing exactly what to do next.

How we create our content

Every guide is written from primary sources — official USA Pickleball rules, published coaching material from professionals, and reputable reporting — and then cross-checked against what the pickleball community actually agrees on. We regularly review the most upvoted discussions on communities like r/pickleball to make sure our advice reflects real, on-court consensus and not just theory.

When we cover players, gear, or events, we note that details like rankings, sponsorships, and equipment change over time, and we date our pages so you know how current they are. If we get something wrong, we want to fix it — see the contact page to reach us.

What we cover

  • Guides — rules, scoring, strategy, gear buying advice, and skill development, from complete beginner to competitive play.
  • Players — profiles of the top pros with stats, playing styles, and career highlights.
  • Tools — a paddle recommendation quiz, a court finder, and a shoe finder, all free to use.
  • Rankings & tournaments — curated snapshots of the pro scene.

How we make money

The Kitchen is free to read. We support the site through display advertising and, on some gear pages, affiliate links — if you buy through one of those links we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Our recommendations are based on independent research and community consensus, never paid placements. See our terms & disclaimer and privacy policy for the details.
